Students will work together to create a story idea, and then perform an original one act script that has been written specifically for them, using their ideas! This class will focus on theatrical elements like timing, character development, voice, and movement.

Students should wear comfy clothing they can easily move in, have indoor shoes, and bring a water bottle. Please also have a folder or small binder for any handouts or scripts you receive, along with a pencil and highlighter.

On December 3, 2026 we invite family and friends to the BackStage Stage for a sharing session that allows the students to highlight what they have worked on throughout the term.

Based on the hit DreamWorks Animation film, How to Train Your Dragon JR. brings fire-breathing action, epic adventure and big laughs to the stage. Hiccup is a young Viking who defies tradition and befriends one of his deadliest foes – a ferocious dragon he calls Toothless. Together, the unlikely heroes fight against the odds to save both their worlds in this wonderful theatrical adaptation. Dragons will be created with puppets and actors will work on puppeteering along with singing, movement, and acting.

Term One: September 15 – December 15, 2026
Term Two: January 5 – April 24, 2027

Finding Nemo KIDS brings the story of Marlin, an anxious clownfish, and his adventurous son Nemo to the stage in a condensed, kid-friendly format. The musical follows Nemo’s capture and Marlin’s epic journey across the ocean to rescue him, featuring beloved characters like Dory, Crush the Sea Turtle, and the Tank Gang. The story emphasizes family, friendship, courage, and perseverance while keeping the content suitable for young audiences and performers. This is a two term class.

Term One: September 15 – December 15, 2026
Term Two: January 5 – April 18, 2027

Whether it’s for community theatre, professional auditions, or for school or program entry, auditioning is one of the most important tools an actor has. From making a first impression to confidence to redirection, during these four weeks we will work with you to build these skills whilst you polish a piece or prepare something new.

Session Three: Scene Work | November 16 – December 7, 2026
With a focus on text, character building, voice, and physicality, this is an opportunity for all skill levels to explore the dynamics of a scene and how to take words and create something meaningful.

FUNdamentals 1 is a class that focuses on foundational elements of acting, including voice, movement, character development, improv and storytelling. This is a great starting point for the young actor in your world and is meant to introduce skills and build confidence, culminating in our sharing showcase at the end of each term.

Using short age appropriate scripts, students will focus on scenes, character development and acting skills including voice and movement. This can be a lead in to our One Act Wonder classes. The program ends with a sharing presentation at the end of each term.

What if you could be a dinosaur or pirate or space explorer? Each week you can be someone new and create stories and adventures, using voice and movement while learning storytelling skills and building confidence. Students will share what they’ve learned in a final presentation at the end of the session.

Join us for this interactive creative blast of fun! Stories, music and play characters are all part of this confidence and communication building program. Children will explore a new theme each week over a six week period. There will be a sharing class for parents to join in the fun at the end of each session.

This haunting folk opera by Anais Mitchell delivers a defiantly hopeful theatrical experience. Participants in this 3 week intensive program will be part of a tale that follows two intertwining stories of devotion that take us to the underworld and back. Music is inspired by folk and New Orleans Jazz in a tale that pits industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love. Hadestown earned 8 Tony Awards, including Best Musical in 2019. There will be four fully produced performances on our mainstage July 25-26, 2026.

No experience is necessary and all registered participants are cast in the show. We will host an audition information session prior to casting auditions.

This is a week of fantastical tales set in magical places, and our three age groups will all embark on different adventures!

Explore heroic characters, villains, and those who are a bit of both alongside our theatre professionals, creating stories and characters that celebrate the comic and superhero genres! Students will share their creations with family and friends at the end of the week.

Ages 5 to 7: Mini Marvel Superhero Academy –  Participants will develop their own superhero and create a story that celebrates their character to be shared at the end of the week!

Ages 8 to 10: Comic Crusaders – Using comic book characters as inspiration, participants will develop their own characters and stories to be shared at the end of the week!

Ages 11 to 14: The Antihero Academy – Explore the fascinating world of the antihero; characters who, while seemingly not heroic, end up doing the right thing and saving the day! We will start with comic book examples and then create our own unique characters to be shared at the end of the week.
