Taking Art Outside is happening over the next mont

Taking Art Outside is happening over the next month. Students from Saskatoon public schools will spend the day at River Landing, enjoying an art activity at the Remai Modern, a walk along the Meewasin Trail and drama activities with Persephone Theatre! Today was a beautiful day to “play”.

Based on a collection of whimsical poems by Phillip Van Wagoner, Could You Hug A Cactus? is a musical revue that follows a group of kids as they create a show that is bursting with poems and creativity. One by one, they share their imaginative creations, until a nervous performer panics and refuses to contribute. Will friendship save the day?⁠

Working with our theatre professionals, students will learn how to use their voice, create characters and tell stories through movement as they take this production from the page to the stage for a performance at the end of the week.⁠

We all know the story of Cinderella, but in this program we will create and perform the story of Prairie Cinders a Saskatoon teen who wants to go to the Summer Celebration Dance Party. In order to make their dreams come true, they need a little magical and musical help from their friends. Students will perform this show at the end of the week as part of our summer program wind up! ⁠

A camp dedicated to live action role play, including fight choreography, inspired by Dungeons and Dragons. We will dedicate the afternoon portion of the program to actual Dungeons and Dragons games. There will be a live action role play demonstration at the end of the week.⁠
